Wollondilly is surrounded by spectacular, natural beauty and rural pastures. It's 2,560 square km stretch from Bargo in the south, Appin and Menangle in the east, Warragamba in the north with the Nattai wilderness, Yerranderie Ghost Town and Burragorang Valley to the west.
Built upon the land of the Gundangurra Tribe, who gave the area its name, the district is rich in Indigenous Aboriginal and European history.
Council's staff actively seek funding opportunities for local community groups and seek the involvement of local artists and performers in the celebrations and events this facilitates.
Cultural facilities include the Wollondilly Heritage Centre and the Wollondilly Arts Group are an active group within the Shire who also manage their own gallery space.
