Formerly know as Baulkham Hills Shire, The Hills Shire is a predominantly rural and residential area, with some commercial and industrial land use. The land of the Dharug Aboriginal people, the Shire covers 380 square km and is home to more than 157,000 people.

Community art spaces available through the Council for exhibitions by community groups, artists or art groups with areas suitable for wall art and some provision for small sculptural works, 3D artworks, pottery, etc. For more information contact the Community Facilities team on 02 9761 4567.
Community Development and Support Expenditure (CDSE) Scheme (clubs funding)
This scheme is a state-wide initiative that requires Clubs which earn over $1 million annually in gaming machine revenue to provide funding for community projects. In the Hills Shire there are four clubs who participate in this scheme.
