Inspired by anything and everything, Indian-born writer, playwright and filmmaker Anita Barar, now of Quakers Hill, began her creative journey reading original poetry and acting in short dramas as a child. Today Anita’s career ranges across artistic, linguistic and geographic boundaries, and in 2007, with support from ICE, she produced the acclaimed documentary feature film, Crossing the Line.
Anita’s work is not limited to certain issues, or particular audiences. She creates work for a broad cross-section of humanity, targeting anyone eager to learn and willing to keep an open mind.
Crossing the Line, which Anita also wrote and directed, was funded by ICE and supported by the Australia Council and Arts NSW. Crossing the Line is the first documentary film produced about two communities - Indians and Pakistanis - with different ideologies, living in harmony in Sydney, Australia and sharing their memories of the division of India in 1947.
Anita Barar will feature next week on Artfiles TV as part of ANGLE, the new half hour magazine style television program made by students of the School of Communication Arts at UWS. MORE
