Playing at Riverside Theatres, Parramatta from August 7-23 is Shakespeare's R&J, an innovative and highly physical interpretation of Shakespeare’s classic tragedy in the spirit of Dead Poet’s Society. It is directed by NIDA Graduate Craig Ilott (The Pillowman).
In the repressive atmosphere of a Catholic boys boarding school, four students secretly explore Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet for their own enjoyment. At first it’s just for laughs, but as the young men discover the themes of secret and forbidden love, they gradually immerse themselves in the roles.
