Bankstown Council is calling for installations that integrate and interact with the environment around Bankstown region's Garrison Point and particularly with the Georges River. This might include sculptural work, wind or water features, lighting and sound installations and other work that responds to and shapes the environment.
The temporary works will be unique, exciting, contemporary and contribute to the Crosscurrents concept which is to celebrate our connection to the Georges River. Works that invite audience participation are highly encouraged.
Selection Process:
Artists need to submit the following:
- A written outline of the Artist's response to the Expression of Interest of no more than one A4 page (up to 400 words) including the intended process to develop the work/s
- A short curriculum vitae of relevant experience (no more than one page)
- Six digital images (jpegs) of current or relevant work with a list that details title, dimensions, media and date of work shown.
- Availability in terms of the project time frame
- Copy of a current Certificate of Currency - Public Liability Insurance to the value of $10,000,000.
- After reviewing the Expressions of Interest a shortlist of artists will be invited to participate in the project.
Budget
The budget allocated towards artist's fees is a total of $1500 which includes cost of materials. Project artists are required to have current Public Liability insurance cover.
Please note that no fee is offered for an Expression of Interest.

Specifications
Power will not be available at this site. If power is required it must be battery run or solar/wind powered.
Artworks must be sensitive to the environment and leave no trace. Excavation or extensive digging into the soil is not permitted.
The artwork must be safe for audiences (including children) to interact with it and the artist must be available on the day of the festival to supervise and provide information to audiences.
Installation will take place on the day prior to the event and overnight security of the artworks will be provided. De-installation will take place after the festival at 5pm on 17th November 2012.
