For more than 30 years Urban Theatre Projects has been making and presenting compelling
new performance works, inspired by real people and their lives. Grounded in a social and
political context, our work grapples with what it is to live in urban Australia and how this
connects with the rest of the world. UTP works with both emerging and experienced artists,
challenging notions of what theatre can be, who it can be made by and who it is for.
The Artistic Director has overall responsibility for the strategic direction and business
planning of Urban Theatre Projects as well as the development and delivery of the Urban
Theatre Projects’ artistic program.
The Artistic Director UTP are seeking will be a visionary with experience as a director or
creative producer and with a reputation for success in theatre at a high level. He or she will
have excellent organisational and interpersonal skills and the ability to bring together
diverse talents to create something very special.
