Mohan Ayyar is a one of the leading practioners of South Indian classical music in Australia. Since 1989, he has given numerous performances of Carnatic music on the synthesizer around Australia and recently in India. He is one of the few artistes to have adapted the synthesizer to Indian classical music.
Mohan has also composed music scores for a number of bharatanatyam (dance) performances and ballets and is currently pursuing his PhD in music at Macquarie University. He has given a number of lecture-demonstrations on Indian classical music and the synthesizer including a presentation in 2008 at the University of Amsterdam. His music portal website, Carnatic Corner, was established in 1994 and is well-known throughout the world.
Mohan teaches Indian music (keyboard and vocal) to a number of students. His wife, Sangeetha Ayyar, is also an accomplished Indian classical vocalist who regularly performs and teaches.
