HAWKESBURY COMMUNITY ARTS WORKSHOP
In 1979 Hawkesbury Agricultural College, now the University of Western Sydney Hawkesbury, was approached by Kevin Oxley for use of a building to set up a community arts workshop. The old wool classing building was made available, and later the feed shed.
During the years these buildings have been renovated by volunteer labour of our members. The workshop elects a board of management representing members, tutors, university staff and students.
All members are encouraged to participate in running the workshop in our many activities. Our funding is from membership fees, commissions paid by tutors for use of the workshop and from commissions on sales at our yearly exhibitions held in September and November,
Piggery Lane Studios
The workshop uses this building to give local artists the opportunity to rent space to further their artistic endeavours at a small rental. Here they may have a permanent working display and selling area.
The workshop has groups in
- Painting
- Life Drawing
- Pottery
- Decorative painting classes in Pottery
- Water Colour
- Portrait
- Specialized disabled groups
