Fairfield City covers about 104 square km and 27 suburbs. The traditional land of the Cabrogal tribe, a sub-group of the Gandangara tribe, it is now home to nearly 180,000 and ranked as one of the most culturally diverse cities in Australia with more than half of all residents having been born overseas, mostly in non-English speaking countries.
Cultural facilities include the award-winning Fairfield City Museum & Gallery which showcases the diverse cultural heritage of the area with an extensive program of exhibitions and activities catering for the whole community.
Resources
The Council produces Activate, an online guide to managing community-based projects for artists, community workers and organisations. Activate takes you from project idea, to implementation and evaluation. It also includes case studies, sample forms, and covers topics such as public liability, copyright, grant submissions, marketing and promotion.
Community Development and Support Expenditure (CDSE) Scheme (clubs funding)
The CDSE Scheme is run by Fairfield City Council on behalf of the participating registered clubs in the Fairfield Local Government Area.
Community Cultural Development

Community Builders Scheme
The NSW Government provides grants to projects that focus on community development.
Mayoral Donations Scheme
Council provides small one-off amounts of funding (up to $500) to individuals and groups within the Fairfield area. For more information call 02 9725 0880.
