To service Bankstown's growing diverse community, Bankstown City Council provides a number of arts, cultural, leisure, educational and recreational facilities and services for the community.

Community grants program

Community Development and Support Expenditure (CDSE) Scheme
This scheme is a state-wide initiative that requires Clubs which earn over $1 million annually in gaming machine revenue to provide funding for community projects. In Bankstown there are nine clubs who participate in this scheme. Bankstown City Council convenes the local the CDSE committee that assesses applications from local community organisations seeking funding to perform valuable community work. Heritage Fund
The local heritage fund has been set up by Bankstown Council to financially assist the owners and lessees of heritage items such as buildings, houses and archaeological sites. The fund offers grants on a dollar-for-dollar basis for conservation work to properties listed in the Local Environmental Plan (LEP) as heritage items. For pensioners and non-profit community organisations, total funding will be considered for conservation work. For more information contact the Strategic Planner on 02 9707 9806.
